Privacy Policy

Overview

Stax Layers ("the App") is a photo layering and collage app developed by Taksrud. This policy explains, plainly, what leaves your device, when, and where it goes. The short version: your photos and projects stay on your phone unless you use the AI feature, and we do not collect personal data.

Data We Collect

We do not collect personal data. The App does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email, or any other personal information. The App contains no analytics or advertising SDK.

Crash reports. If the App crashes, an anonymous crash report is sent to Sentry so we can fix the bug. A report contains technical information only: the device model, iOS version, App version and the crash stack trace. It never contains your photos, screenshots, prompts, or anything that identifies you. Crash reports are not used for tracking or advertising.

Photos & Content

Photos you import and projects you create are stored on your device only. Editing, cutouts, grids, the brush, text, stickers and export all run on your phone. When you export an image, it is saved directly to your photo library or handed to the share sheet you chose. We never upload, access, or store your photos or projects on our servers, with the single exception below.

AI Image Generation (optional). When you use the AI feature, the text prompt you enter is sent to our server (hosted on Vercel) and forwarded to Replicate, which runs the image model. If you choose a reference photo for the AI to work from, a reduced-size copy of that photo (at most 1024 px, JPEG) is sent along with the prompt. Our server passes the request through and returns the generated image to your device; it does not store your prompt, your photo, or the result, and responses are marked not to be cached. Replicate processes the request under its own privacy policy (linked below). Nothing is sent unless you tap Generate, and the App shows this notice next to the button.

GIFs and stickers.When you search for GIFs or stickers, your search text is sent to GIPHY through our server, and the GIF images themselves are loaded from GIPHY's servers, which therefore see your device's IP address like any web request. No personal data is shared with GIPHY.

Purchases

In-app purchases, including the Stax Pro subscription, are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not process or store any payment information and cannot see who you are.

Third-Party Services

• Apple (App Store) — app distribution and in-app purchases.
• Replicate — runs the AI image model. Receives your prompt and, if you chose one, a reduced copy of your reference photo, only when you use the AI feature. See Replicate's privacy policy.
• Vercel — hosts our server that relays AI requests. It stores nothing from those requests.
• GIPHY — provides GIF and sticker content. Receives your search text and serves the images. See GIPHY's privacy policy.
• Imgflip— provides the picture-meme templates in the Memes tab. The App downloads the public template list and the template images you tap from Imgflip's servers, which therefore see your device's IP address; no search text or personal data is sent. See Imgflip's privacy policy.
• Sentry — receives anonymous crash reports as described above. See Sentry's privacy policy.

Your Choices

You can use every part of the App without the AI feature; nothing leaves your device unless you tap Generate. Deleting the App deletes all projects and photos it stored, because they only ever lived on your device.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children. The AI feature sends prompts and optional reference photos to the services named above only when a user chooses to generate an image.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
